Clinical service

Cardiology & Cardiac Sciences

The cardiac unit treats emergency chest pain and planned heart disease in the same corridor, so a patient who arrives at night can be handed to the same consultant the next morning.

We run a 24-hour chest-pain pathway from the Emergency floor to the catheter laboratory. Stabilisation, ECG, and first medicines start before paperwork is finished.

Planned work includes angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker checks, heart-failure titration, and hypertension clinics. Reports stay on the patient record so the outpatient visit is not a guessing game.

Families receive a written plan at discharge: medicines, red-flag symptoms, and the date of the next review. The booking desk can schedule that review before you leave the floor.
